Senior Photo Session FAQ | Birmingham, AL Senior Photographer

If you’re preparing for your senior photo session, you probably have a few questions. As a Birmingham senior photographer, I’ve compiled some of the most common questions I receive from seniors and their families to help you feel prepared and excited for your big day!

1. What should I wear for my senior photos?

Your outfit should reflect your personality and style. You can bring up to two outfit changes to your Birmingham senior photoshoot —casual, formal, and something in between. It’s also a good idea to coordinate your wardrobe with the season and location of your shoot. For example, vibrant colors work well in parks or urban settings, while neutral tones stand out in natural surroundings. See my blog post on Wardrobe Ideas for Seniors for more detailed ideas

2. How far in advance should I book my senior photo session?

It’s best to book your session at least 3-4 weeks in advance, especially during peak seasons like spring and fall. If you’re looking to secure a weekend spot, consider booking even earlier to ensure you get the best time and lighting.

3. What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

In Birmingham, weather can be unpredictable. Don’t worry! I always keep a close eye on the forecast and will notify you in advance if we need to reschedule. Your comfort and the quality of your photos are top priorities, so we'll make sure to choose a day with the best conditions.

4. Where will the session take place?

Birmingham offers many beautiful locations for senior photos! Whether you prefer urban backdrops, nature settings, or something unique, we’ll find the perfect spot. Popular choices include Railroad Park, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and Morris Avenue. We will discuss your style and preferences to choose the best spot for your Birmingham Senior Photo Shoot.

5. How long does the session last?

A typical senior session lasts about 1 hour, giving us plenty of time for a couple outfit changes and lots of great shots. I want to make sure you’re relaxed and having fun, so we won’t rush!

6. Can I bring a friend or family member?

Absolutely! Bringing a friend or family member can help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. They can even jump in for a few fun shots if you'd like!

7. When will I receive my photos?

I know you’re eager to see your photos! The turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks. I’ll provide you with a private, online gallery where you can download your high-resolution images and share them with friends and family.

8. Do you offer retouching services?

Yes, I provide light retouching for all senior photo sessions to ensure you look your best. This includes skin smoothing, blemish removal, and subtle enhancements to make your photos truly shine. If you have specific requests, feel free to let me know!

9. Can I include props or hobbies in my photos?

Definitely! Senior photos should reflect who you are at this special time in your life. Whether you want to include your sports gear, musical instrument, or any other items that showcase your hobbies and passions, I encourage you to bring them along.
