What To Do When My Child Won't Sit Still for My Family Photo Session

As a Family Photographer for 12 years I have seen every personality type come through my lens.

Here are my tips to Moms when you THINK your child is not cooperating:

  1. FEED them before the session (this is basically my answer to all of life’s problems)

  2. Relax - The more uptight you become and the more you try to control your little one, the less cooperative he or she become. They CAN feel your tension

  3. Your mind is making more of it than it is! What kid wants to sit and say cheese?!?! BORING! Let your kid be a kid and walk, run, roll around. As your family photographer I WILL capture sweet images!

  4. Release the idea of perfection! We live in a society that only shows you the pretty images, not everything in between. Let go of the expectation that your family photoshoot is going to go exactly how you pictured it and decide to have a fun time with your family instead. I promise you will cherish the images the images that we capture!

  5. Trust your Family Photographer! No matter how you found me, I know you have seen the work on my website, or a friends family photos and you have loved them. I guarantee that there was a lot of running around behind at the shoot that you aren’t seeing in the image. If you will trust me to work with your kids and have fun with your family, you won’t be disappointed with what I capture.

As a Mom and Photographer I want your family to have fun at your family photoshoot. I don't need your child to sit still like a robot, I want them to be themselves and play. I will capture your precious family and give you sweet memories that last forever.
